Lilliputian

Once upon a time in a village so far away on a planet as white as snow in a parallel universe, there was a colony of lilliputian. The difference between them and earth people is not only in their height but also in the way they experience life, starting from birth to death or from death to birth.

On a Friday afternoon the sons and grandsons of Logrand gathered around his tomb crying of excitement,

"Papa, when is grandpa coming?" asked Lokid.

"We don't know the exact time son, but it is written on the tomb that he has died on this day," answered Lopapa.

"I can't wait to see grandpa."

"And I can't wait to see papa."

Negative two hours the family started hearing noises coming from the tomb.

"Mortician," Lopapa called, "It's time."

The morticians came and unburied Grandpa. Lokid was afraid so he held his father's hand and hid behind his leg. When they opened the tomb, Grandpa was laying there still, then he started moving his fingers then his toes and suddenly coughed strongly so everyone cheered and jumped of joy. Lokid looked from behind his father's leg and when he saw his grandpa he ran towards him, hugging him and kissing every part of his face.

"Take it easy son, grandpa is still tired of death."

"Hahaha" laughed Logrand and hugged Lokid gently.

They took Logrand to the hospital to know the reason of his death. The checkups was done and it turned out to be an accident.

"It seems that your father had enemies. His death doesn't seem natural," the doctor said.

"What? How come?" asked Lopapa.

"The tests show that his death was because of drowning and he has some bruises in his body."

"Does he need to be hospitalized?"

"Just for a couple of days but not to worry, the worst has already happened!"

"I feel well," said Logrand, "and I have no idea what is the doctor talking about."

"I am afraid of the past," said Lopapa.

"Don't worry about it son, you heard the doctor, the worst has already happened."

"But what may have you done that had led to you being murdered?"

"I have no idea son, we don't own the past, let's live the present."

Lopapa and Lokid returned home. As soon as Lomama heard the story she got even more worried than Lopapa,

"What if your father is a serial killer?"

"What? noway."

"How are you so sure? You just got to know him today."

"There is nothing to fear, whatever has happened has already happened."

"True, but my kid will witness that. He is only 7 he can't handle a past like that."

"We can't change the past and your son is strong, he can face his fate."

"And what about me?"

"What about you?"

"I still have 30 years until I am born. These should be my best years in life, I am afraid we will not enjoy our youth because of your dad's past?"

"So you weren't happy when you witnessed your child's rise from death?"

"Of course I was."

"And you weren't happy at his marriage then graduation?"

"I was"

"And you weren't happy when you got your promotion at work?"

"Of course I was, but I have been waiting for our engagement for long."

"Always waiting for something or worried for something, no?"

"You are missing the main point we are talking about your dad now."

"My dad was the one who was killed, remember? For what I know he is the innocent one."

"We have to know what has happened exactly for him to die in that horrible way."

"Alo, Loauntie?"

"Yes, what's the matter? why do you sound completely off?"

"Do you remember the fortune-teller that your friend has gone to? I want an appointment with him."

"But the latest I heard is that he was arrested in the future, it is in next year's news!"

"Why do they keep arresting them, they are our only hope to know our past."

"Apparently he is a crook, it is written that he hasn't been to earth!"

"What do you mean?"

"Don't you know... the only way you can know your past is by going to earth. There, time moves differently, from back to front!"

"Is that true?"

"Yes, yes, that's why some fortune-tellers can tell the past, they have already lived it there!"

"Lopapa, how do you like your steak?"

"It's delicious, what's the occasion for this special dinner?"

"I have talked to Loauntie today..."

"Whenever you two talk, nothing good gets out of it. I will go wash my hands."

"But you didn't finish eating..."

"I suddenly feel full."

"I will prepare your tea then."

"Lopapa, do you know anyone who have went to earth?" Asked Lomama.

"I will go to earth next year to grow there," said Lokid.

"What are you talking about?" Lomama and Lopapa asked at the same time.

"I want to go to earth, grow up there, then return home and get young again then go to earth and back and so on and so forth, that way I will live forever."

"This kid has lost his mind," Lopapa said.

"You never take me seriously," said Lokid and stormed to his room.

"The kid is right," Lomama said to Lopapa, "Loauntie told me..."

"I don't want to hear about this nonsense anymore."

Logrand got out of the hospital and went to live with his son and his family. One day some friends of Logrand visited, he had knew them at a coffee house few days before. She offered them tea, then coffee, then juice and they seemed they weren't going to leave, ever. They have talked all the four hours they stayed and they were lowering their voice when they sensed Lomama's presence. Lomama was suspicious, "how could they get too close so fast, they must have been friends in the past and they have it in their subconscious memory," she murmered to herself, "or maybe they are the ones who murdered him, or maybe his gang?"

Loauntie and Lomama went to a fortune-teller who they heard was trustworthy; he had evidence that he had been to earth. He had something that was mind-blowing that he put proudly at the entrance of his house. Once they entered, there was a table at the center of the entrance, on top of it, there was a glass sphere bowl, inside it, there was a very big shoe that a baby can fit into it. And it wasn't a regular shoe; it had holes on its vamp! This perforated shoe had a very unique plant inside, which they never saw its like before and it's stems came out of the holes of the shoe. And what was more astonishing was that the plant was planted in a brown soil which was something that they didn't know existed. Their snowy white planet has grey soil underneath the white crust but not brown mud. The moment Loauntie and Lomama saw that marvelous proof they kneeled in front of it and only then the fortune-teller came out.

He looked like he was at the age of 45, he was more tanned than a normal lilliputian but everything else was normal, he dressed, walked, ate and drank like a lilliputian. He invited them inside, and before they tell him the reason that they came, he asked Lomama,

"how is Logrand?"

"How do you know that that's the reason for us coming?"

"I know what's worrying you, and there is no reason to get worried."

"But he was killed!"

"That's what the doctors told you."

"So he wasn't killed?"

"No, it was just an accident."

"But he had bruises on his face..."

"That was the day before the accident, Logrand had had fell on his face."

"Oh thank you, thank you," said the two ladies in relief.

"But it's not Logrand that you are truly worried about?" the fortune-teller said, "You are worried about your life with your husband."

After a short moment of silence, "and what can I do about that?"

"That's for you to figure out my lady."

They left the fortune-teller's house confused. Lomama and Loauntie started telling everyone they know about what they saw in there: the size of the shoes that they have never seen before, the most beautiful plant they have ever seen and the brown soil, all of this must be coming from earth, they explained. They also talked about the fortune-teller,

"he is very handsome," said Lomama

"he also seemed taller than the men of his age," Loauntie said excitedly and Lomama nodded.

"There is something about him that I can't explain," said Lomama

"Yes, he is very calming and tender," said Loaunite and nodded Lomama while her mind wandered somewhere else.

Lomama went home and the moment she saw Logrand she accelerated towards him with a wide smile and asked him if she can do anything for him. But then Lopapa entered and everything changed, she remembered the fortune-teller's words and she felt worried but she wasn't sure what she was worried about.

One night, a year before Lomama went to the fortune-teller, the Logrand family were having dinner when suddenly there was fast and strong knocking on the door, when Lopapa and Lomama ran to the door to check what's that was about, there was one big guy standing in front of the door asking about Logrand and when they rushed into the house, he was gone, Lokid said that he got out of the window, this man said that he will not calm down until he kills Logrand. It turned out that Logrand would trick him into buying a normal rug illuding him that it can fly.

It turned out the Logrand was a con and so was the fortune-teller. Lokid has found out that he can't go to earth. All the earth expeditions was done in the future, and he also found out that one of the astronauts who went to earth was the grand grandson of the fortune-teller, he must have inherited from him the marvelous earthly plant and shoe.

--------

This story is inspired by recent news that NASA has discovered a parallel universe where time runs backwards. But it turned out that that was misinterpretation of the actual discovery.

In fact, what was discovered was evidence of high-energy particles that defy our current understanding of physics and one of the possible suggested theories to explain them was the existence of a parallel universe, without any solid evidence.
